TOFCO Contributes to the Local Content Conversation at the Trinidad & Tobago Energy Conference

TOFCO was pleased to participate in the Local Content Forum on Day 3 of the Trinidad & Tobago Energy Conference, where the company shared its approach to supporting and strengthening local content within the energy sector.

Representing TOFCO, HR Manager Debbie Frost highlighted how the organisation integrates local content into its business strategy through local procurement, workforce development, and community investment initiatives.

A key part of TOFCO’s approach is its commitment to local supplier engagement. Local companies are prioritised within TOFCO’s procurement framework and supported through long-term partnerships with local service providers and suppliers.

The company also places strong emphasis on developing and retaining local talent. With an average workforce of approximately 450 employees, TOFCO remains committed to employing local professionals and technicians while creating opportunities through targeted recruitment and community job fairs.

During the forum, Ms. Frost also highlighted TOFCO’s flagship community initiative, the P.A.S.S. Programme (Preparing All Students for Success), launched in 2019 to support students from academically challenged schools through literacy and numeracy interventions aimed at improving readiness for the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA).

Through programmes such as PASS, TOFCO aims to encourage awareness of education and career pathways, strengthen foundational academic skills, and contribute to long-term workforce development.

The session concluded with engaging breakout discussions where participants shared ideas on strengthening local participation across the energy sector.

TOFCO views local content not simply as a requirement, but as a strategic responsibility delivered through disciplined project execution, community engagement, and continued investment in people.
